The Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations proudly announces its 3-day Harvard Youth Leadership Summit (HYLS) at XCL World Academy, set to take place from March 21st to 23rd. This program is meticulously designed for students to engage deeply with global challenges and foster skills that are essential for the leaders of tomorrow.
This summit features world-class curricula to foster mentorship, research, and guidance opportunities for students. Throughout this immersive experience, students will have the opportunity to listen to keynote speeches from distinguished figures and participate in the Impact Challenge - an engaging case study competition that encourages practical problem-solving. In addition, participants will immerse themselves in Harvard-style seminar classes, gaining exposure to advanced educational approaches. The program also includes college panels, where students can hear firsthand experiences from current college students, providing valuable perspectives on higher education. Group discussions and social activities are integral parts of the event, ensuring a balanced mix of intellectual stimulation and social interaction.
Application requirements:
Full-time enrolled student aged 14-18.
Academically fluent in English.
Able to be in Singapore from March 21st-23rd.
Demonstrate commitment to personal and academic growth.

This is a case study and pitching competition whereby students will be divided in teams and presented with a problem statement. They will then be mentored by Harvard students to research and ideate pragmatic and innovative solutions to tackle these real world issues. The impact challenge is an opportunity for students to exercise critical thinking, collaborate effectively, and innovate, all while developing actionable solutions to pressing issues.

Harvard mentors will teach the students some of the most iconic Harvard lectures, which are curated by renowned Harvard faculty. These seminars are designed to acquaint students with Harvard's distinctive teaching style, offering them a chance to delve into exceptional content across a range of disciplines. This experience not only broadens their academic horizons but also provides a glimpse into the enriching educational environment for which Harvard is renowned.

Harvard has 12 houses for its students and all participating students at this Summit will be divided into those “houses” for social activities like team bonding games, performances and more.This not only fosters camaraderie among the students but also provides a chance for them to connect with their Harvard mentors. It's a perfect blend of fun and friendship, designed to enhance the three-day experience.

All participating students will hear from Harvard mentors share their personal journeys from high school to college. These narratives will encompass the full spectrum of experiences – the triumphs, the setbacks, the challenges faced, and the enjoyable moments. Through these stories, students will gain a deeper understanding of higher education in the United States, offering them a realistic and comprehensive view of college life. This session is designed to be both enlightening and inspiring, providing insights that go beyond the academic, into the heart of the collegiate experience.
